Postnatal Foundations Mat Pilates classes
Post Natal Pilates is suitable for most people, even if you have not attended any Pilates classes before. In fact, it’s the perfect time to take up Pilates! The Post Natal Foundation Pilates course is a rehab based course specifically designed to reconnect you with your body Post Natally so you can return to your everyday activities with strength, mobility and confidence.
There will be a strong emphasis on breathwork and pelvic floor function to fire the deep core muscles and repair the abdominal separation experienced during and after pregnancy. As so much time is spent sitting and feeding/holding your new baby, we pay particular attention to realigning the body by strengthening the postural muscles of the back and shoulders whilst rebuilding the glute and hip muscles which can become weakened during pregnancy. All in all, you will leave each class feeling mobilised and strong.
At the end of the course, you will have 5 class recordings with a variety of progressive, multifunctional Pilates exercises to practice at home.
You must be at least six weeks Post Delivery and ideally have had your Post Natal check up before attending the postnatal Pilates classes.
You will need to complete a Perinantal Health Questionnaire and attend an in-person consultation before starting your Postnatal Pilates class. The in-person 121 will take 30-45 mins and entails a thorough discussion of your Pregnancy, labour and delivery journey, general health and exercise history and an assessment of your Abdominal separation and core activation. If necessary, your Teacher may request you see a Womens Heath Physio before starting the Post Natal Foundations course.
What to expect
Classes will be kept small with just six participants, to ensure you receive the support you need and can be monitored carefully.
Babies are welcome in the postnatal class, however some ladies choose to take this time for themselves and leave their baby at home.
The classes will be 45-60 minutes (45mins of exercise, 15mins of catch up, discussion and Q&A) and run for 5 weeks at a time.
A recording of the class will be provided for you, so you can continue your practice at home during the week.
If you are unable to make your class in the studio, you will be able to join via Zoom. If you are unwell, you won’t miss out because you will still be sent the class recording to practice at home once you feel better.
- Post Natal Foundations: The five week course is £80, which includes your initial consultation, studio classes, and class recordings.
